Limited Warranty.
Spal Shield® warrants to the original purchaser of the Spal Shield Transparent Paint Protection Film that, for a period of 12 months Workmanship and 60 months product from film manufacturer from the date the Spal Shield is installed, the Spal Shield film will not crack, peel, or change colors under normal driving conditions from sand, salt, stones, bugs, abrasions or ultraviolet rays from the sun. Spal Shield warranties apply only to original factory paint -repaints or touch-ups are not covered-. The warranty does not apply to any damage caused by abuse, misuse, accident, neglect, modification or competition.
AUTHORIZED AND ACCEPTED: Spal Shield are hereby authorized to install the above specified parts. I understand that payment in full will be due upon release of vehicle. An express mechanic's lien is hereby acknowledged on the above referenced vehicle to secure the amount of parts installed thereto. I hereby agree that Spal Shield will not be held responsible for damage to the vehicles paint or lights caused by installation of the above specified parts and/or removal of existing protective products.
In no event will the liability of Spal Shield for any damages exceed the price paid by you for the Spal Shield film and its installation, regardless of the claim. The Spal Shield warranty shall only apply when the product is installed by an authorized Spal Shield dealer in accordance with the directions provided by Spal Shield. The limited warranty does not cover defects caused by modification, alteration, or repair of the Spal Shield product by anyone other than a dealer authorized by Spal Shield.
Warranty Claims
Before Spal Shield will approve any claim you must give written notice of the claim to Spal Shield or an authorized dealer within seven days after the damage occurs. Claims regarding installation must be made within two weeks of initial installation. You must permit Spal Shield to inspect the damage.
Claim Remedies
In the event Spal Shield receives timely notice of a proper claim which is the approved by Spal Shield. At its option, Spal Shield will either replace the damaged section or refund the purchase price of the damaged application. These remedies constitute the sole and exclusive remedies available to the purchaser.
Q. | Can Spal Shield Paint Protection Film be applied over a vehicle that has had the paint touched up? |
A. | 3M recommends that any repainted surfaces on your vehicle be professionally painted and fully cured before applying paint protection film. If you have touched up scratches or chips with a tube of "touch-up" paint and then apply paint protection film over it, the film will protect that area until it is removed. If the paint protection film is removed, it is possible that the area around the non-professional touch-up or repaint could peel off. |
Q. | Will the paint smear if Spal Shield Paint Protection Film is applied over a newly painted vehicle? |
A. | The paint on a newly painted vehicle must be cured according to manufacturer's recommendations. Your body shop should be able to provide you with this information. |
Q. | Can Spal Shield Paint Protection Film be applied over graphics? |
A. | The clear film will not interfere with vinyl or painted graphics and is designed to match the gloss levels of today's automotive factory clearcoat paint systems, providing virtually invisible protection. However, if the Spal Shield Paint Protection Film is removed, damage may occur to the underlying graphic during the removal process. |
Q. | What products does 3M recommend to best maintain Spal Shield Paint Protection Film? |
A. | 3M makes a variety of products to help maintain the beauty of your vehicle. 3M™ Car Wash Soap (3M Part #39000), 3M™ Show Car Paste Wax (3M Part #39526 and 3M™ Perfect-It Show Car Liquid Wax (3M Part #39026). The best surface cloth to use is the 3M™ Perfect-IT™ III Detailing Cloth (3M Part #39016) since others may scratch the surface of the film. |
Q: Will this product damage my paint?
A: No, This product is designed to help protect your paint, not damage it.
Q: How long should I wait to apply your product if my car has been repainted?
A: You will need to talk to your body shop and see what they recommend. The time will vary depending on the type of paint the body shop used, and whether or not the paint was baked. In any case, the time that they say you should wait to wax the paint, is the same time you will need to wait to install our product.
Re-paints do not carry any Workmanship warranty.
Q: Is the product removable?
A: Yes. The film is designed as a semi-permanent application, but can easily be removed if desired from any OEM painted surface. For removal of the film, simply heat the surface to approximately 150°F and begin by working a corner of the film with your fingernail. After you have enough film to hold onto, pull the film slowly away from the surface. If any adhesive remains, simply use any adhesive cleaner that is safe for the surface and wipe clean with a soft cloth. If any sections are known to have been repainted, extreme caution should be taken on those areas during removal.
Q: What if the vehicle is in an accident and a covered area is damaged?
A: The Limited Liability Warranty does not cover any auto accidents. However, the customer may have Spal Shield re-applied for a fee to the affected area once vehicle has been repaired.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: All kits are custom made upon ordering. Therefore return orders may be subject to 25% restocking fee. Returned kits must be in clean, unused, original condition, packed in the original packaging, and received by TLS Performance Products/ Spal Shield within 30 days of receipt of merchandise. No return will be accepted without proof of purchase of date of sale. No COD or shipping charge refunds accepted. Customer must contact us prior to shipping to obtain a return authorization code. Not responsible for unauthorized returns.
This limited warranty does not cover problems with a warranted product caused by normal wear and tear. It also does not cover problems with a warranted product resulting from external causes such as accident, abuse, misuse, mishandling, collision, alteration, negligence, fire, theft, vandalism, riot, explosion, natural disaster, or other acts of God. Moreover, it does not cover any problems resulting from a usage of a warranted product that is not in accordance with product instructions or resulting from a failure to follow product instructions or a failure to perform preventative maintenance to or parts replacement for your vehicle as suggested by the manufacturer in its maintenance schedule. Finally, it does not cover warranted products for which we have not yet received full payment.
This limited warranty does not apply to the quality of the installation of a warranted product on your vehicle. It also does not apply to any problems with a warranted product caused by or relating to the actions or omissions of any contractor who performs work on your vehicle, including, for example, an installer of a warranted product. For example, this limited warranty would not cover problems with a warranted product resulting from such an installer's installation methods. Contractors are neither our employees nor our agents and they do not have the authority to alter or extend this limited warranty.
This agreement is a product warranty and not insurance.
NO OTHER WARRANTY OF ANY KIND IS MADE UNLESS EXPRESSLY PROVIDED HEREIN. WE DISCLAIM ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OTHER THAN THOSE WARRANTIES IMPLIED BY, AND INCAPABLE OF EXCLUSION UNDER, APPLICABLE LAW. ANY SUCH IMPLIED WARRANTIES WHICH MAY BE REQUIRED BY LAW AND ARE NOT DISCLAIMED HEREBY ARE LIMITED, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TO THE APPLICABLE PERIOD OF THIS LIMITED WARRANTY OR THE SPECIFIED DURATION OF SUCH IMPLIED WARRANTIES UNDER APPLICABLE LAW, WHICHEVER IS SHORTER. WE DO NOT ACCEPT LIABILITY BEYOND THE REMEDIES PROVIDED FOR IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY OR FOR INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. OUR LIABILITY WILL BE NO MORE THAN THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE PRODUCT THAT IS THE SUBJECT OF A CLAIM. THIS IS THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT FOR WHICH WE ARE RESPONSIBLE. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW LIMITATIONS ON HOW LONG AN IMPLIED WARRANTY LASTS, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, SO THE ABOVE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
This limited warranty is good for up to five (5) years from your date of purchase. This limited warranty begins on the date of your proof of purchase, including, for example, your packing slip, invoice, or other receipt. The warranty period is not extended if we repair or replace a warranted product. We may change the availability of our limited warranties at our discretion, but any such changes will not be retroactive.
To initiate warranty service, please send (1) a copy of this limited warranty, (2) the defective product, (3) a copy of your proof of purchase for the defective product, and (4) a description of the product defect, to us at the following address:

You must return the defective product to us in its original or equivalent packaging, prepay shipping charges, and insure the shipment or accept the risk if the product is lost or damaged in shipment.
Upon our inspection of the defective product and our determination that your claim falls within the scope of this limited warranty, we will send you a replacement product free of charge (but not including any installation costs). We will make such determination and, if in the affirmative, send you a replacement product, within sixty (60) days following our date of receipt of the materials listed above.
If we are not able to replace your warranted product because it has been discontinued or is not available, we will either replace it with a comparable product or reimburse you for your purchase cost (as indicated on your proof of purchase), at our sole option.
We will pay to ship the replacement product to you if you use an address in the United States (excluding Puerto Rico and U.S. possessions and territories). Otherwise, we will ship the product to you freight collect.
If we determine that the problem is not covered under this limited warranty, we will notify you and inform you of service alternatives that are available to you on a fee basis.
Replacement products are covered for the remaining period of the limited warranty covering the warranted product that you bought. We own all warranted products returned to us that are exchanged for a replacement product.
You may not transfer this limited warranty. This warranty coverage terminates if you sell or otherwise transfer a warranted product to another party.
