Q: Is there any special care for Spal Shield once it is installed?
A: Once installed, refrain from washing the vehicle for at least 48 hours. We suggest you keep the vehicle in the sun to help cure and dry the protective film. Washing after that time presents no problem, but be careful if using a pressure washer along leading edges of film. When waxing the vehicle, some wax may build up along the film edges. This wax build up can easily be removed with a soft toothbrush. Once fully cured, apply a nice coat of dye-free wax to your Spal Shield kit. This will close up the pores of the material and maintain that invisible look.
We recommend to use Plexus to polish and protect the film. This product is available through Spal Shield. Please contact us regarding any items.
Q: Will Spal Shield ever turn yellow?
A: Spal Shield resists yellowing because the film is constructed of thermoplastic urethane, a tough, conformable material that is covered by a clear coat layer. The film contains UV protection to counteract harmful ultraviolet rays that can cause yellowing.
Q: Is there a warranty?
A: Yes, upon completion of Spal Shield to your vehicle, our technicians will perform a final walk-through regarding care for your Spal Shield kit. A warranty card will be given to you to fill out and submit along with copy of your invoice. This card will be used as record of installation and when your coverage begins. This is unheard of in many aftermarket industries. 5 Year Limited Warranty on film and 1 Year Workmanship Warranty. We guarantee satisfaction.
Q: Can anyone properly install a Spal Shield kit?
A: There are precise conditions and specific techniqes for applying the film. To insure the best results and guarantee your warranty, Spal Shield should be applied by a professional Spal Shield technician.
Q: How long will the installation take to complete?
A: Most installations take between four to six hours in duration.
Q: Will it really stop rocks from chipping the car?
A: Yes. The material was originally designed to stop chips on helicopter rotor blades and airplane propellers. It is much easier for the product to protect your vehicle's paint than a propeller moving at nearly the speed of sound.
Q: Can I see a line where the film stops?
A: A slight line is barely visible at certain angles where the film stops. We have new hood designs that have a slight curve at top to reduce the "noticable Linear line"The alternatives are stone chips or an unattractive black vinyl bra.
Q: Are your colored films legal on headlights for street use?
A: Our colored films may not be legal for street use on primary lighting. An off-road disclosure is recommended. Please check your state or local laws before application. Installation of colored Spal Shield Films on your primary lights is done so at your own peril. None of our films produce a blue or red light when lit.
